English-language FM radio stations purged from Paris
According to France Presse agency English-language radio stations were kicked out of the FM range in Paris. The French broadcasting authority (CSA) excluded BBC World Service and two other English-language stations from the shortlist of contenders for licences.

I saw this, too.

Nationalism is alive in even the most cosmopolitan societies. If the French language was under assault by the Brits or the Americans, I would try to understand such a move. But I don't think there is a danger of the French becoming Brits. My philosophy is to let the markets dictate what kind of radio stations to have. Unfortunately, politics and economic reality sometimes do not work hand in hand.

I am not sure whether this is nationalism or what. Could be a move to somehow limit foreign propaganda.

Well, this free market thingy is put away as soon as a country feels any threat to the interests of its business sharks. Remember for example how Americans gave preferences to their steel producers, how they barred Russians from getting into their oil market, how they barred Arabs from buying some port terminals.
